Frequently Asked Questions about Presentation Training
What is presentation training?
Presentation training is practice-oriented training that helps you present convincingly and professionally. It covers:
1. Structure and preparation
How to build a presentation with a clear red thread: strong opening, convincing main section, memorable close.
2. Rhetoric and argumentation
How to convey your key messages clearly and handle objections confidently.
3. Body language and voice
How gestures, facial expressions, posture and voice technique reinforce your message.
4. Handling nervousness
How to channel stage fright into positive energy – a trainable skill, not a personality trait.
CONSENSIS has been delivering tailored presentation training in Switzerland since 2009.
Who is presentation training suitable for?
CONSENSIS presentation training is suitable for anyone who communicates in front of others professionally:
Managers and executives who need to inspire and convince teams, boards and clients.
Sales staff and account managers who pitch products, services or proposals.
Project managers and specialists who present results, strategies or recommendations.
Anyone who presents regularly and wants to do it with more confidence, clarity and impact.
What are 5 tips for a good presentation?
1. Prepare thoroughly and define your goal clearly
What should the audience think, feel or do differently after your presentation?
2. Start with a strong opening
A striking question, an unexpected fact or a short story – the first 30 seconds determine whether the audience is with you.
3. Use simple, clear language
Avoid jargon and complex sentence structures. Short sentences hit harder.
4. Use slides as support, not as a reading template
The 7-7-7 rule: max. 7 slides, 7 lines, 7 words per line – or better still: the Lessig Method with one image per slide.
5. Actively involve the audience
Questions, pauses and eye contact keep attention high. A presentation is a dialogue, not a monologue.
How do I overcome nervousness before a presentation?
Nervousness before a presentation is not a weakness – it is energy. The key is to redirect it:
1. Prepare thoroughly
Most nervousness comes from uncertainty. The better prepared you are, the calmer you feel.
2. Practise out loud (several times)
Thinking is not enough. Speaking the presentation aloud makes it feel familiar – ideally in front of a test audience.
3. Use breathing techniques
Slow, deep abdominal breathing before you go on stage reduces the physical stress response within seconds.
4. Reframe nervousness as excitement
Both feel similar in the body. Telling yourself "I am excited" rather than "I am nervous" measurably improves performance.
In CONSENSIS presentation training, you practise in realistic situations and get direct, constructive feedback – the fastest way to lasting improvement.
What is the Lessig Method?
The Lessig Method, named after Lawrence Lessig, uses many simple slides, each with a single image or keyword in rapid sequence. The goal is maximum visual support while maintaining a high flow of speech – compelling, modern and highly effective.
It is the opposite of text-heavy slides where the presenter reads from the screen. Instead, the slides amplify what the speaker says without competing with it.
In CONSENSIS presentation training, you learn both the Lessig Method and the classic 7-7-7 rule – and when to use which approach.
How much does in-house presentation training cost in Switzerland?
An in-house CONSENSIS presentation training costs CHF 2’500 per day for up to 8 participants, everything included – trainer, preparation, materials and debrief.
For individual coaching and small groups, separate conditions apply.
